Guadalajara, Jalisco – Considered one of the best hand and upper extremity surgeons in the world, Dr. Alejandro Badia will participate as a guest of honor in the XXIV Pan-American Congress of Sports Medicine, which will take place from the 27th to the 30th of this month. José Ángel Córdova Villalobos, Mexico’s Secretary of Health, is expected to attend the opening ceremony.
Visiting Guadalajara, the distinguished physician, president of ISSPORTH (International Society of Sports Hand Traumatology) and specialist in treating professional athletes, has a particular interest in developing minimally invasive procedures and techniques. These are primarily related to hand joint replacement, arthritis relief, arthroplasty, arthroscopy, and carpal tunnel syndrome, using faster, less traumatic methods for the patient and with better results.
The sports medicine specialist mentioned the increasing prevalence of orthopedic problems worldwide. Upon arriving in Mexico, he expressed, “I am very excited to reunite with my colleagues in Mexico at the XXIV Pan-American Congress of Sports Medicine, as this is one of my main interests in the practice of medicine and in my position as president of ISSPORTH, an international society dedicated to a small area of the body, the hand and wrist, which can end athletes’ careers if the appropriate treatment is not implemented promptly.” Alejandro Badia was named one of the 45 best hand and upper extremity surgeons in the United States by Becker’s Orthopedic & Spine Review. In his experience, he has treated professional tennis and golf players, NFL and NBA athletes, as well as workers and weekend warriors who acquire these kinds of concerning injuries.
The institution he leads aims to promote the free and comprehensive exchange of knowledge among its members through publications and scientific meetings, to facilitate and expand study opportunities within and between different countries.
In this way, it promotes cooperation among hand surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine specialists, hand therapists, and other medical professionals with a strong interest in hand, wrist, and sports-related injuries.
