Alejandro Badia, a hand and upper extremity surgeon from Miami, visited Quito and Guayaquil. He was invited to a medical conference to present on advances in upper extremity sports medicine and to carry out other community activities.
The International Sports Traumatology Course was held at the Sheraton Hotel in Guayaquil. The main topics included the athlete’s shoulder, upper limb sports injuries, sports physiology, soccer biomechanics, hip arthroscopy, knee injuries, and tendon pathologies.
Badia did not miss this opportunity to visit colleagues and the Burn Foundation and Wound Clinic (Fundación de Quemaduras y Clínica de Heridas). At that institution, he provided consultations to the underprivileged to offer his expertise. He also provided free second opinions to patients who truly needed them, with the support of the local medical community, according to reports.
