Many congratulations and blessings, dear Dr. Badia.
It has been 7 years since I had the pleasure of visiting your clinic in Miami when you operated on Francisco. I must tell you, Dr. Badia, even now there isn’t a single hand surgeon specialized in the upper extremity here in Ecuador who truly knows how to operate. Here in the hospitals, the only thing they tell you is that “nothing else could be done,” and they amputate the hand or leg.
Remember that three medical boards* tried to deny my son [permission] to travel to your clinic because they told me nothing more could be done for Francisco’s hand… that the only option left was amputation. This medical specialty lacks discipline here in Ecuador… They are still in their infancy**… It is the truth.
