Karen was so happy with her results that she came back for her other shoulder! Today she showed us some of the new tricks! We are happy she was able to regain function after her shoulder replacement (resurfacing) procedure.
Shoulder resurfacing, also known as a humeral head resurfacing, involves replacing only the damaged or arthritic surface of the humeral head (the upper arm bone’s ball-shaped end) with a metal implant. This preserves more of the patient’s natural bone and is typically considered for individuals with partial joint damage, younger patients, or those with specific anatomical considerations. The procedure aims to alleviate pain and restore function while maintaining as much of the patient’s original anatomy as possible.
