Santiago, July 2005.- Representatives of the medical team of the Teletón Santiago Institute, led by Dr. Marcia Carrasco, met with Dr. Alejandro Badia, an orthopedic surgeon from the Miami Hand Center and expert in upper extremity surgery, who, during a visit to Chile, led a clinical meeting to discuss some of the most frequent disabilities seen at the nine Teletón institutes.
In this context, Dr. Badia evaluated four children who have a disability in their arms, either due to arthrogryposis or congenital malformation.

During the visit, Dr. Badia also met with the national medical director of Teletón Chile, Dr. Milton González; the deputy medical director, Dr. Susana Lillo, and the institution’s academic director, Dr. M. Antonieta Blanco.
Finally, Dr. Badia took the opportunity to tour the Teletón Institute in Santiago, familiarizing himself with the medical and therapeutic work that Teletón Chile has carried out since 1978. It currently treats more than 22,000 children and young people, between 0 and 20 years of age, who present some disability of neuro-musculoskeletal origin, representing 67% of the motor-impaired individuals in that age group nationwide.
