Orthopedic problems have increased in the athletic world, which is why on February 7th, hand surgeons, physical therapists, athletic trainers, and other sports professionals from around the globe will gather in Miami to discuss the most common upper extremity sports injuries, specifically in athletes.
The event is organized by hand and upper extremity surgeon Alejandro Badia, world-renowned for being the second president of the International Society for Sport Traumatology of the Hand (ISSPORTH).
For the first time, the ISSPORTH symposium will be held in the United States, at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa. A conference will be led by experts from Brazil, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, Estonia, Australia, and the United States, aiming to address a topic from a rarely discussed area of anatomy: the hand and the wrist.
Purpose
ISSPORTH is an international society dedicated to educating athletes and medical professionals on meticulous techniques and advancements in knowledge across all areas related to hand, wrist, and elbow injuries; this includes both acute trauma and overuse syndromes.
The goal of ISSPORTH is to properly treat both amateur and professional athletes to prevent them from being misdiagnosed and, consequently, becoming victims of their injuries.
The gathering, to be held on Tuesday, February 7th, will bring together various specialists from around the world. The purpose is to delve into one of the least addressed fields in the medical arena.
