Finger Amputation Finger Re-attachment Surgery Badia Hand to Shoulder Center Doral FL
A 73-year-old man suffered a traumatic four-finger amputation while using a circular saw, resulting in a complex and high-risk hand injury. After emergency care in a local Florida hospital, two of the severed fingers were recovered, and the patient was urgently referred to Dr. Alejandro Badia and his surgical team. Despite challenges including the patient’s age and prior cardiac history, a successful multi-digit finger reattachment (replantation) surgery was performed.
Following the procedure, the patient regained significant hand function—allowing him to perform daily activities such as tying his shoes, gardening, and even returning to his passion for woodworking. This case highlights the potential for advanced microsurgical techniques to restore function after severe hand trauma and demonstrates that age should not be a barrier when pursuing optimal surgical outcomes for finger amputation injuries.
